KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
The
world-renowned Kruger
National Park
offers a wildlife
experience that ranks with the best in Africa
. Established in 1898 to
protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park of
nearly 2 million hectares, is unrivalled in the diversity of its life
forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques
and policies. Truly the flagship of the South African national parks,
Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish,
34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Man's
interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries - from
bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini
and Thulamela - is very evident in the Kruger National Park. These
treasures represent the cultures, persons and events that played a role
in the history of the Kruger National Park and are conserved along with
the park's natural assets.
Game viewing for the rest of the
day, interrupted only with a stop for lunch. You are all eyes to catch
that special shot with your camera that will always be treasured. Leave
the park and on to Moholoholo Forest Camp, at Mariepskop, for
overnight. Arrive in time for the evening open landrover drive and
dinner in the ‘Boma’.
MOHOLOHOLO FOREST CAMP
Situated in the midst of a rain
forest which is surrounded by Acacia woodland, nestling on the slopes of
‘the very great one’ known as Mariepskop in the majestic north eastern
lowveld Drakensberg mountains.
One of the
special features of the Forest Camp is the open viewing terrace, which
overlooks the forest. A large variety of forest animals such as Nyala,
Red Duiker, Bush Buck, Samango Monkeys and Bush Pigs can be watched as
the browse the forest floor and visit the waterhole. A maximum of 16
people can be accommodated in 8 well-appointed and secluded log and
thatch en suite chalets, providing the ultimate retreat. Delicious home
cooked meals are served in either the reed boma around a log fire or in
the thatched dining room, which is also ideal as a small conference
facility.
The
Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at Moholoholo contributes positively to
